This Warden Message is to inform American citizens that the U.S. Embassy in Rangoon will move to a new location effective September 24, 2007. To accommodate the move, the Embassy will be closed for normal business from Thursday, September 20, until 8:00 a.m on Monday, September 24, 2007. Our new address is:

If you have an emergency during office hours on the days the Embassy is closed, please call the Consular section at 536-509, extension 4240. For an after-hours emergency, please call the Embassy’s duty officer at 09-512-4330.

The Consular section will be closed during those same days and will reopen on Monday, September 24th at 8:00 a.m. Consular section office hours at the new location will remain the same: 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., with non-emergency American Citizen Services from 2:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

The Embassy encourages Americans in Burma, including short-term visitors, to register with the U. S. Embassy in Burma through the State Department’s travel registration website so that they can obtain updated information on travel and security within Burma. Registration may be done on-line at http://rangoon.usembassy.gov. The Embassy is located at 110 University Ave, Rangoon. The after-hours emergency number is (95-1) 536-509, extension 4014. The Embassy is open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday (except U.S. federal holidays and Burmese holidays).
