Travel in Burma

What is Travel Registration?

Registration at the U.S. Embassy in Burma makes your presence and whereabouts known in case it is necessary for a Consular Officer to contact you in an emergency. If friends and family back home are concerned about your welfare and whereabouts, if you need emergency services from the Embassy while in Burma, or if there is a natural disaster, being registered beforehand will make it easier for the Embassy to help you.

We encourage all United States visitors to Burma, both short term tourists and citizens residing here longer term, to register with us.

There are three ways to register with us:

  • Register online on the State Department’s travel registration website
  • Download and fill out our registration form, then email it to Consularrangoon@state.gov. Download the tourist registration form by clicking here. Download the resident registration form by clicking here.
  • Come by the Embassy during business hours
