Renewing an Expiring or Recently Expired Passport
If your passport will soon expire or has recently expired, follow the directions below to apply for a new passport. The validity of passports can no longer be extended. A new passport must be issued.
In non-emergency situations, passports are printed in the United States and take roughly two to three weeks from the date of the application to the date it is available for pickup at the Consular Office. During this time, you may keep your current passport.
