The American Center, Rangoon offers cultural, educational, and information programs.
At the American Center you will find the Baldwin Library, which is stocked with over 18,000 volumes of the latest books on social science, health science, business, international relations, religion, U.S. government and politics, and American literature. More than one hundred periodicals and a collection of DVDs as well as an online database search network are available, which are ideal for researchers and students.
The American Center also has study guides for TOEFL and other standardized tests, and reference materials on American higher education options and scholarship opportunities for students going to the United States. We offer student advising services for those pursuing higher education in the United States.
The American Center offers courses in English taught by trained and experienced native speaker teachers. The General English courses and the Elective English courses are taught using a multi-skill approach to language learning. See the page on English Classes for more details.
The American Center also hosts several student clubs that meet regularly, monthly programs such as a Youth Forum and Book Club, and special programs throughout the year. We also conduct informational sessions on U.S. Embassy scholarship and exchange programs such as the prestigious Fulbright and Humphrey programs.
